Why Backup?

A backup is your safety net. If something goes wrong — a broken plugin, a hack, a coding error — you can restore your site to how it was before in minutes. PlatiniumHost performs daily automatic backups, but you can also create your own from cPanel.

PlatiniumHost Automatic Backups

All plans include daily automatic backups stored for 7 days. To restore one, open a support ticket indicating the date you wish to revert to.

Create a Full Manual Backup

  1. Log in to cPanel
  2. Find the "Files" section
  3. Click on "Backup Wizard" (Backup Assistant)
  4. Click on "Back Up"
  5. Select "Full Backup" for a complete backup
  6. For destination, select "Home Directory"
  7. Enter your email to receive notification when it's ready
  8. Click on "Generate Backup"
⏱ Time: The backup can take from a few minutes to half an hour depending on your account size. You will receive an email when it's ready.

Download the Backup to Your Computer

Once created, the .tar.gz file will appear in your home folder. Download it with the File Manager or via FTP and save it in a safe place.

💡 Good practice: Create and download a manual backup before making major changes: updating WordPress, installing plugins, changing the theme, or modifying code.
