Why Change the PHP Version?
Some WordPress plugins or themes require a minimum PHP version. Also, newer PHP versions are faster and more secure. PlatiniumHost supports PHP 7.4, 8.0, 8.1, 8.2, and 8.3.
How to Change the PHP Version
- Log in to cPanel
- Find the "Software" section
- Click on "Select PHP Version"
- In the dropdown menu, select the version you need
- Click on "Set as current"
✅ The change is immediate. You don't need to restart anything.
Which Version Should I Use for WordPress?
- PHP 8.2 or 8.3 → Recommended for modern WordPress (faster and more secure)
- PHP 8.1 → Good option if a plugin is not compatible with 8.2
- PHP 7.4 → Only if you have a very old plugin or theme that does not work with PHP 8
⚠️ Before changing: If you have a production site, test first in a development environment or activate maintenance mode in WordPress. A PHP version change sometimes causes incompatibilities with old plugins.
